Developing and Implementing industrial waste water treatment using seaweed
Situation:
• Contaminated wastewater with heavy metals polluting the ocean of a car manufacturer in Japan (2008-2009).
Actions:
• Suggestion of new biological treatment by using seaweed.
• Analysing the most efficient treatment conditions (temperature and interval) and the best types of seaweeds to use as biological compound.
• Implementing of new treatment.
Tasks:
• Reduce contamination of water through use of biological and low-cost compounds.
• Reduce current treatment time.
• Collaborate with university research department (Mie University – Japan).
• (project time 9 month).
Results:
• Reduced heavy metal contaminated waste water with by 95%.
• Reduced treatment time from 8 to below 2 hours.
• Reduced costs of the wastewater treatment.
